Stephanie deliberately avoids image-generating AI in her illustration work, even though some results impress her. She objects to its use of human-made work without rewarding the creators. Not knowing whether a person or machine made an image can diminish the wonder of human creation for her. Stephanie uses Claude for translating emails into English and preparing talks. She would not delegate decisions in her creative process to AI. In her eyes, AI does not understand how good ideas work. For illustrators’ sake, she hopes this will remain so, although she fears otherwise.
